The exhibition “Constructions” at Rodchenko School

October 24-29 2018

Opening from 7 pm to 10 pm on October 24
Two German artists – Wanda Koller and Erika Schumacher –explored Moscow for two months: all things visual and structural, its poetry, its people, phenomena and architecture. The next step on this journey is an exhibition at Rodchenko School:

Constructions

‘…this is simultaneously our situation in residence, in the state of change, and permanent reconstruction of Moscow. Deconstruction and construction change the city’s appearance every day, thus leaving a mark in our minds. In an attempt to develop our own take on Moscow, we experience various phenomena. This is a continuous process with amazing discoveries…’

>novwon< Wanda Regina Koller on Boris Groys Appropriation

Series of collages that scrape at the dimension of knowledge.
When the city is explored, the subject and object cannot be distinguished, they accompany each other. Construction areas and a huge variety of styles lead to personal meetings that then transform into poetry. Background as a landscape embodies the constellation of identities and reassembles them in new ways.

Portraits & Architecture on Susan Sonntag / Faces of Moscow
Erika Anna Schumacher
All these layers of print fronts trigger questions about #real #unreal #surrealistic. In an attempt to find answers to these questions in my art work, I have started exploring layering… People and architecture in Moscow seem familiar somehow, yet other letters and languages turn them into something different, strange, unknown. Light melancholy and austerity in conquering a new day that shine through in their faces make them look like surrounding architecture in its monumental strength.

Exploring new space means taking risks and a step into the unknown. Be open to new experiences and soak them in through your body and mind. Merge. Be the asphalt you walk on under the rain. Be the rain.
