Foundation in social networks:

The “Invisible Cities” exhibition opens on February 7, at the RIZZORDI ART FOUNDATION with the support of the Foundation.

24 January 2014

The RIZZORDI ART FOUNDATION with the support of the Vladimir Smirnov and Konstantine Sorokin Foundation presents a project of the «Invisible Cities» team and their first exhibition, which shares the same name.

The exhibition is to open on February 7, at the RIZZORDI ART FOUNDATION.

\”Invisible Cities\” is a documentary project about an everyday life in small Russian provincial industrial towns and cities. Such places in Russia are referred as \’monogoroda\’ (‘mono’ means ‘single’, ‘gorod’ means ‘city or town’). Usually they are urban spaces which were established and grew around various industrial sites during different periods of Russian history.

We consider such spaces to be absolutely unshown and almost unknown to the public while they still reflect the concept of Russian heartland. Significant, if not the biggest, number of our citizens lives in there.

In the contemporary media-based world the absence of image equals to the absence of \’being\’. That is why we aim to make these places visible, put them on the map and let them speak loud.
